The United States, once the land of the free, has become a land of biospheres. Huge tracts of land, from which citizens were removed and crowded into teaming cities, were now part of the "Green Movement". It was a plan to save the world from Pollution, or so they were told.
Centuries ago religious orders influenced kings and queens, holding sway over the common masses. Back when men sailed upon the seas in wooden ships and plotted their course by the stars, life beyond the stars was not even a consideration. To have suggested such would have been heresy.
Many galaxies existed among the stars with countless untold worlds where many intelligent civilizations flourished. Small bases were often established in the far out-flung reaches of space to serve as way-stations, or outposts.
Unbeknown to mankind, guardians among the stars kept watch over Earth and its inhabitants. They hid their existence from a civilization that would not have understood them, protecting them from harm. Their base was secretly built on the back of the rocky moon, hidden in Earth’s shadow.
