Louise (Harding) Shaw, is the youngest of six children.  Her parents moved to a secluded homestead in the Missouri Ozarks when she was four years old.  Her much older siblings chose not to make the move so she grew up as an only child.  Louise became an avid reader.  As an adult she pursued her love of reading by becoming an English teacher and a historian.

Roy Shaw grew up in a woodcutting family in the Ozark hills of Missouri.  As a child he spent many hours in the woods, helping cut firewood, cordwood, and logs.  By the time he graduated from high school, he was eager to broaden his horizons by enlisting in the military.  There he indulged in reading many science fiction and fantasy novels.  His wife, Louise, encouraged him to put his own imagination to words and a husband / wife writing team was born.
